Primordial Sound Meditation
(Mantra meditation)
Primordial Sound Meditation is a powerful meditation technique rooted in the Vedic tradition of India. Chopra Center co-founders Deepak Chopra and David Simon have revived this ancient practice of sound meditation and made it available in a format that’s easy to learn. You can check out myself and other certified teachers in the video below as we speak more about The Chopra Center!
Primordial Sound Meditation is a mantra based technique. The word mantra means “vehicle of the mind” and a mantra is used as a “vehicle” to transcend thought and mechanics of the mind. When signing up for a Primordial Sound Meditation class you will be given a personal mantra to use in meditation which is calculated using your birth date, time of your birth, and location in which you were born. Using this information along with Vedic mathematics, The Chopra Center is able to figure out the vibrational sound that was occurring in the Universe at the time of your birth. This vibrational sound is then assigned as your personal mantra. When a mantra is repeated consistently during meditation you are then able to reach a state of deep rest as your nervous system calms down. As activity in your body slows, including the activity of your mind, you then slip into the gap which is the silent space of infinite possibilities. The benefits of meditation are vast and can help one significantly in experiencing greater emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing and growth. Please see the Resources Page for links to studies that have been published with regards to meditation benefits.
It is important to find a meditation technique that resonates with you and moves you toward experiencing greater peace in your life. For me, Primordial Sound Meditation was an answer to my prayers! I struggled for quite some time when trying to meditate while focusing on my breath as well as trying to quiet my mind. With this struggle came resistance and frustration so I had difficulty making meditation apart of my daily practice. Receiving my personal mantra at The Chopra Center along with being taught the practicalities of meditation I was then able to successfully meditate daily. With daily practice I began witnessing and experiencing amazing changes in my life. Using my personal mantra will forever be apart of my daily routine! Since I am a Chopra Certified Instructor for Primordial Sound Meditation I look forward to teaching others this ancient wisdom as well as offering personal mantras!
